Delivery terms and right of withdrawal

These terms apply to ordering and delivering the PDF Taituri desktop licence. The browser version is free and requires no account, order or licence. Updated 18 August 2026.

In short: there are two ways to order. 1–49 workstations: you pay in the online checkout by card or online bank, choose the period (1, 3 or 12 months), and the licence key arrives by email immediately after payment. 50 workstations or more, and the public sector: you request a quote, accept it, and the invoice is sent as an e-invoice. Prices are shown excluding VAT; the checkout also shows the VAT-inclusive total that is charged.

2. The product

The PDF Taituri desktop licence is a right of use for the Windows desktop application. The licence covers every tool in the application, software updates and support for the whole contract period.

The licence is per workstation: the price is based on the number of workstations where the application is installed. The licence key is granted for the contract period and verified on the user's own device — there is no activation server, and the application does not contact us during use.

Session hosts (RDS, VDI, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop). On a shared session host the unit of calculation is a named user, not the host and not the number of concurrent sessions: licences are counted from the people entitled to use the application. Counting per host does not fit here, because a single session host can serve hundreds of users. For the same reason session environments use a shared key — a workstation-specific key is bound to the machine identity, and on a session host that identity is the same for every user.

The browser version at pdf.koukku.ai is free for everyone. It requires no account, order, payment card or licence key, and these delivery terms do not apply to it.

3. Price and VAT

Desktop licence prices
ProductPrice (excl. VAT)
Desktop licence€4.90 / month / workstation
Desktop licence, organisation discount −25 % (50 workstations or more)€3.68 / month / workstation
Browser version€0

All prices shown on this site and in our quotes exclude VAT. Value added tax is not included in the prices shown. The tax is determined by the buyer's location and tax status and is added to the invoice at the applicable rate. For sales to Finland, the Finnish standard VAT rate is added to the invoice.

If the buyer is a VAT-registered business in another EU country and provides a valid VAT number, the sale is treated under the reverse charge mechanism. The VAT number must be provided when ordering.

The final price including VAT is always stated in the quote, on the invoice and in the online checkout summary before the order becomes binding on the buyer.

Online checkout period prices per workstation

In self-service purchases the price is calculated from the monthly price of €4.90 (excl. VAT) for the chosen period. The VAT-inclusive amount is what is charged to the card (Finland's standard rate 25.5 %):

PeriodExcl. VATIncl. VAT 25.5 %
1 month€4.90€6.15
3 months€14.70€18.45
12 months€58.80€73.79

The amount is multiplied by the number of workstations. The organisation discount (−25 %) applies to orders of at least 50 workstations, which are made by quote.

4. Ordering

Ordering requires no user account and no registration. The buyer's identifier is the email address the licence key is delivered to. There are two ways to order.

A. Online checkout, 1–49 workstations

  1. Selection. Choose the number of workstations (1–49) and the period (1, 3 or 12 months). The page shows the amount excluding VAT, the VAT, and the VAT-inclusive amount that will be charged.
  2. Details. Give an email address and the organisation or buyer name. The name is written into the licence key.
  3. Terms. Accept these delivery terms and — because the key is delivered immediately — separately confirm that the right of withdrawal lapses (section 9).
  4. Payment. Payment is made in the payment service of Paytrail Oyj by card or online bank. We never see or process payment instrument details.
  5. Immediate delivery. The contract is formed when the payment has been confirmed. The licence key is shown on the payment return page and emailed at the same time together with the order number and the receipt.

The online checkout does not sell orders above 49 workstations, nor invoiced orders; those are made under section B.

B. Quote and e-invoice — 50+ workstations, municipalities, the state and other organisations

  1. Quote request. Fill in the form on the site or send a message to myynti@koukku.ai. We need the organisation name, contact person, email address and the number of workstations. A business ID and an e-invoicing address (OVT) speed up invoicing.
  2. Quote. We send a written quote stating the number of workstations, the unit price, any discount, the contract period, the total price excluding and including VAT, and the validity of the quote.
  3. Order. The contract is formed when the buyer accepts the quote in writing (email is sufficient) or places an order based on it.
  4. Order confirmation and delivery. We send the order confirmation and the licence key by email (section 5).
  5. Invoice. The invoice is sent separately (section 6).

5. Delivery

The product is digital. Delivery is by email to the address given in the order — nothing is sent by post and no delivery charges apply.

What delivery includes

Delivery time

The licence key is delivered within two business days at the latest from the confirmation of the order. In practice delivery usually happens on the same business day. If delivery is delayed, we will tell you and give a new estimated delivery time.

When per-workstation keys are ordered, the delivery time is counted from the moment we receive the machine identifier file collected by the customer.

Two ways to distribute the key

This is agreed when ordering:

If the key is lost or does not arrive

We keep a record of the licence key for the whole contract period. If the key does not arrive, is lost, or the contact person changes, request it again from myynti@koukku.ai — state the organisation name and the order number or business ID. We will resend the key to the contact person named in the contract free of charge. The key is not given to anyone other than the contract contact person or a person named by the ordering organisation.

If a workstation breaks or is replaced under the per-workstation key model, the application keeps working for 14 days and shows a notice. Tell us which machines have been replaced and we will issue new keys free of charge — the licence count does not change when an old machine is retired.

6. Invoicing and payment terms

Online checkout purchases (section 4 A)

An order made in the online checkout is paid in full in advance for the chosen period at the time of payment. The payment is handled by Paytrail Oyj (business ID 2122839-7) acting as the payment service provider; the payment takes place in Paytrail's service and Paytrail's terms apply to the payment transaction. A receipt itemising the amount excluding VAT, the VAT and the VAT-inclusive amount is emailed together with the order confirmation. The period does not renew automatically and nothing is charged to the payment instrument after the period: a new period is purchased separately. No separate invoicing surcharge is applied.

Invoiced orders (section 4 B)

Invoicing is done by e-invoice to the OVT address given by the buyer, or by email invoice if no e-invoicing address exists. The invoicing period is one year in advance and the payment term is 30 days net. Any invoicing surcharge is agreed in the quote and shown on the invoice. Interest on late payment is determined under the Finnish Interest Act.

We do not tie late payment to how the application works: an overdue invoice does not shut the program down in the middle of a working day. Non-payment is handled through the contract and invoicing, not technically.

The monthly price of €4.90 per workstation is the unit of calculation. Invoicing is annual because the licence key is granted one year at a time — this keeps the invoice and the key's validity in step, and a small order does not produce twelve invoices a year.

7. Contract period, renewal and termination

The contract period depends on how the purchase is made.

Online checkout purchases (section 4 A). The contract period is the period purchased — 1, 3 or 12 months — and it ends by itself when the period runs out. The period does not renew automatically and nothing is charged to the payment instrument after it. A new period is purchased separately if wanted; no termination is required and the contract does not remain in force.

Invoiced orders (section 4 B). The contract period is 12 months. It renews automatically for a further 12 months unless the contract is terminated in writing at least one month before the end of the period.

The licence key is granted for the contract period and expires by itself at the end of it.

We remind you of renewal well before the period ends and deliver a new key when the contract is renewed. If the contract is not renewed, the application returns to the free tier when the period ends. Nothing is deleted from the customer's computer and none of the customer's files are locked: all files produced are in standard formats (PDF, PDF/A, PDF/UA) and stay with the customer.

8. Free trial

The desktop application can be trialled free of charge for 14 days. The trial requires no payment card and no user account, and it does not turn into a paid subscription automatically: the trial simply ends and the application returns to the free tier. The trial key is requested on the 14-day trial page (in Finnish).

9. Right of withdrawal

Consumer buyers

Under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act, a consumer has the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of concluding the contract by notifying us. The notification can be free-form and sent to myynti@koukku.ai; it must make clear who is withdrawing and which order the withdrawal concerns.

When the right of withdrawal lapses. A licence key is digital content supplied electronically. If delivery begins during the withdrawal period, the right of withdrawal lapses — but only if both of the following apply:

We ask for this consent before sending the key: in the online checkout it is given with a separate checkbox before payment, and it is recorded in the order and in the order confirmation. If the consent has not been given, the key is not delivered until the withdrawal period has passed — or the consumer can ask for immediate delivery and accept that the right lapses. Either option is fine; the choice is the consumer's.

If you withdraw before the key has been delivered, we refund any amount paid without delay and no later than 14 days from receiving the withdrawal notice, using the same payment method used for the payment.

Companies, municipalities, the state and other organisations

The statutory right of withdrawal applies to consumers only. For orders by companies and public bodies, the terms agreed in the quote and the order confirmation apply. Report an incorrect or accidental order immediately to myynti@koukku.ai — in practice we will settle the matter if the key has not yet been taken into use.

Once the key has been delivered, the payment is not refunded. The reason is technical: a delivered licence key cannot be recalled. It keeps working until the end of the purchased period even if a refund were granted, because the key is checked on the device and there is no activation server. This does not limit your rights under section 10 if the product is defective.

10. Faults and complaints

If the delivery is incorrect or the product does not work as agreed, report it to myynti@koukku.ai. State the order number or business ID, what you were trying to do, what happened and which operating system you use. We reply without undue delay.

We remedy the fault primarily by delivering a working key or a software fix. If the fault cannot be remedied within a reasonable time, the buyer is entitled to a price reduction or to cancel the purchase as provided by law.

A consumer must report a fault within a reasonable time from noticing it or from when it should have been noticed. A report made within two months is always made in time.

Security findings can be reported separately to john@koukku.ai.

11. Dispute resolution

We aim to settle disagreements directly. If no agreement is reached:

Finnish law applies to the contract.
